Sustainability

The Oldest Technology Here Is a Mud Wall.

What is actually true about how this farm runs — and, at the bottom of the page, what isn’t true yet.
Where We Stand

We Would Rather Under-Claim

Sustainability has become a page every property is expected to have, and most of them say the same things.
We would rather tell you what is actually true here and leave out what isn’t. Vrinda Tapovan is a working farm that took on guests. Most of what would be called sustainable about it was never a decision — it is simply how a farm in Braj has always been run.
Built, Not Cooled

Six of Thirteen Rooms Are Made of Mud

They are built the way Braj has always built — walls thick enough to hold the night’s cool right through the afternoon. They have air-conditioning, because guests want it. They need it considerably less than the modern rooms do.

This is not nostalgia. Vernacular construction in this climate outperforms most of what replaced it, using material that came from within walking distance and will return to the soil when the building has finished its life.

We priced the mud rooms above the deluxe rooms. Not as a gesture — because they are the better room.

The Land

Chandan, Tulsi and Cows

Chandan is a slow crop. Sandalwood takes years, which makes it a poor fit for anyone in a hurry and a good fit for a family that intends to be here. Tulsi grows alongside it. Neither was planted for a photograph.

There is a gaushala at the edge of the property. Guests can spend time with the cows whenever they like, and we do not charge for it — cow seva is not an activity to be sold.

The orchards, gardens and the Navgrah Vatika — laid out to the nine planets — are open to walk at any hour.

The Kitchen

The Shortest Supply Chain We Can Honestly Manage

Through the winter months, much of what reaches your table is picked from our own beds the same morning. Through the rest of the year, it isn’t — the farm cannot supply a kitchen twelve months out of twelve, and we are not going to pretend that it does.

The kitchen is pure vegetarian and fully sattvic: no onion, no garlic, and no non-vegetarian food anywhere on the property at any time. Whatever else can be said about it, a plate like that carries a fraction of the footprint of the alternative.

Getting Around

Bicycles, and a Charger

Most of our guests drive down from Delhi-NCR. Both of these are for them.

◈

Bicycles, free to use

The farm trails are better on two wheels than four, and the long way round is the point.

✦

EV charging on site

Charging overnight at the farm is easier than stopping on the Expressway — and quieter.

Not Yet

The Part Most Properties Leave Out

We opened in May 2026. There is a great deal we have not built yet — and a sustainability page that pretended otherwise would be the least sustainable thing on this website.

We are not going to publish numbers we have not measured, or claim certifications we have not earned. As that changes, this page will change with it. If something here matters to you, ask us directly and you will get a straight answer.
